Cenrtal Nervous System consists of brain and spinal cord

Peripheral Nervous System outside or brain and spinal cord

PNS is divided into autonomic and somatic

Autonomic nervous system acts on smooth muscles and glands

The ANS is involuntary

Somatic nervous system is voluntary controlling skeletal muscles

PNS > ANS has afferent and efferent

Afferent = sensory

Efferent = motor

Afferent sends impulses to CNS

Efferent neurons receive impulses from brain and transmit through spinal cord

ANS > Efferent Pathway divided into sympathetic and parasympathetic

Sympathetic and Parasympathetic are opposites for homestasis

Sympathetic Nervous System = Adrenergic System

Adrenergic receptors Alpha 1 & 2, Beta 1 & 2

Norepinephrine is released for responses

Parasympathetic nervous system = Cholinergic System

Four Receptor Families

Flow of particles from low concentration to higher concentration?
Albuterol
Do alkaloids have acidic or basic pH?
Dobutamine
Blocks a physiological response
What do drugs bind to with chemicals?
Is energy used in passive diffusion?
Dopamine HCL
What determines how easily a drug is absorbed in GI tract?
Phenylephrine
Causes a physiological response
Flow of particles from a high concentration to lower concentration
Swallow particle and pull
